SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS

PID: 109153

The City of Warren will utilize federal funds to remove and replace existing deteriorated sections of 5-foot wide sidewalk throughout the Warren City School District.  The proposed work includes replacing sections of deteriorated sidewalk on Fifth Street between Tod Avenue and Highland Avenue, Milton Street between Niles Road and Central Parkway, Tod Avenue between Englesson Drive and Dunstan Drive, and Atlantic Street between Elm Road and Fairway Drive.  Additional improvements include installing sections of new 5-foot wide sidewalk on Tod Avenue and Fifth Street to eliminate sections of missing sidewalk, upgrading or installing new curb/curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, manhole and service valve adjustments and driveway apron reconstruction.  The proposed improvements will be constructed entirely on land owned by the City of Warren.

The $400,000 project is scheduled to begin construction in the summer/fall of 2020.  Traffic will be maintained in each direction on all city streets during project construction except when permitted by the project engineer.  Access shall be maintained to all adjacent residences, properties, and intersecting side streets for the duration of the project.

To ensure the decision-making process is comprehensive, the City of Warren is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of this proposed project.  Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, regulated materials and the general location of the project. The City of Warren also requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, landmarks and districts.  Any comments you may have regarding the environmental impacts and/or the proposed project may be submitted by June 16, 2020.

All public comments, questions and/or concerns about the project are welcomed and should be directed to:
