Cheryl Saffold was born in the City of Warren and raised in the 6th Ward where she now resides. After graduating from Western Reserve High School, she attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. While living in our nation’s capital, she worked as an Intern at the U.S. House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

 

Prior to graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, she worked full-time for Procter & Gamble in the Marketing Research Division.

 

A graduate of Texas Southern University’s School of Law, Ms. Saffold was named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement. While in Houston, Texas, Ms. Saffold interned for the Harris County Prosecutor’s Office, ABC-KTRK Television Station and worked as a Substitute Teacher and as a Full-time Language Arts Teacher for Trumbull County Schools and for the State of Ohio. She is also a certified Mediator.

 

Ms. Saffold has served on several boards including the United Way Allocation Committee, Mobile Meals and the At-Risk-Youth Board for Youngstown State University.

 

Ms. Saffold was elected to Council in 2009 and has served as Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, the Education Sub-Committee and currently chairs the Community Development Committee.

 

She is committed to the economic development for the city and has made great strides towards creating jobs for the citizens of the Mahoning Valley, having sponsored yearly Job Fairs in conjunction with Kent State University Trumbull Campus.

 

Additional programs initiated by Ms. Saffold have included hosting a Crime Summit, “Operation Lawn Mower,” Co-Sponsoring a Minority Health Fair in conjunction with the CFOC non-profit and Wal-Mart, and a “Clean Your Street Initiative.”

 

Ms. Saffold is looking forward to further enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the 6th Ward and for the entire City of Warren.
